Warm white is the color of a bedside lamp at 10 p.m. — bright enough to actually use, warm enough to feel like part of bedtime rather than a continuation of the office. It's the color you reach for when you want comfort, not stealth.
The cozy lamp color
Warm white in Night Light X sits around the 2700K–3000K range — the same color temperature as a traditional incandescent bulb or a candlelit dinner. Compared to the 4000K+ "office white" of overhead lighting, it's softer, friendlier, and far less alerting. Compared to deep amber or red, it shows true colors and lets you read fine print without squinting.
When warm white shines
Rule of thumb: Use warm white earlier in the evening; switch to amber or red as bedtime approaches. The warmer the color the closer to sleep — it's the same logic as dimming overhead lights as the night goes on.
Brightness matters as much as color
Warm white is melatonin-friendlier than cool white, but it's still brighter and richer than amber. If you're using warm white late at night, lean on the brightness slider — a dim warm white is closer to "campfire" than to "office," and your sleep cycle will thank you.
